for the price point of the X16 there are probably some options for actual period 6502 machines worth considering. That said I understand it might not suit your interests to maintain an actual 1980s machine, and investment-focused collectors are slowly ruining the hobby.
As such I would suggest looking at what mos_8502 :verified: (npub1qnu…hzwk) is building which is closest in spirit to the X16 and shaping up to be a superior implementation anyways. The Foenix is also a neo-retro option along the same lines: https://c256foenix.com
