Some people like to use centralised systems, that are funded by advertisers, because the algorithm helps them discover the things that are relevant.
PersonaIly, don’t like to have an algorithm promote things to me. By monitoring my data online, it does indeed know what I want, but there are many things that I might want. Some of those things, that I might want in the short term, are not good for me. Other things that I might want, when I am thinking more long term, might be better for me. The reality is that the things that the algorithm choses to promote to me will necessarily be things that are the most easy and addictive. This is because the algorithm is funded by people that want to sell me more stuff. It will always be in their interests to promote things to me that will have me consume more.
