Easy way to check fan motor function is to turn on the AC. The fan only gets requested at low speed for engine cooling when the temp sensor gets to a certain temp (could be as high as 220 on some cars) but it is ALWAYS requested at low speed/stopped when the AC is on to ensure proper airflow across the condenser.
