simple idea for that code reading tool I was talking about: instead of just commenting on a line, you can comment on a variable or a function. This comment then becomes available wherever the variable is either as a mouseover popup or an inlay hint.

Ideally the variable would just be named correctly, which would make this unnecessary. As previously discussed, this is often not the case and you're not allowed to correct it.
