A Safety Message to anyone on prescription meds or anyone with a loved one in a retirement home or long term care where you can't check!
If you are using a blister pack do NOT agree to allow the pharmacy to fill the pack via computer!! IGNORE any pharmacist who swears they will check the meds when they receive the pack.
My husband is on many medications and some are in a blister pack which when the pharmacist filled by hand made life easier for me and we never had a problem with errors.
Eight weeks ago, we agreed to allow their main office use a computer to fill it and EVERY WEEK when they deliver it, there have been ERRORS.. Pills missing, wrong dosage, wrong medication!
Patients lives are at stake.
