No it not really harder to buy Monero nowadays as they have a lot of no kyc on ramps. BUT I have one issue with Monero in the meatspace. As I don't have fiat but need sometimes cash, here is not really a P2P partner for it. For BTC I have a lot ppl in my area.
I know many Monero guys they don't swap as they do not need to swap to BTC. But yea, swaps can be helpful sometimes. I know some Bitcoiners they use BTC for savings and Monero for payments. They swap from BTC to Monero. It is the same if they would open LN channels
