Finished Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince. It's a short listen but it's dense with tales of ancient conquerors and the strategies of the Italian ruling class. One could see how Martin Scorsese's love of Italian mobsters is a direct line from this tradition of ruthlessness. Obviously it's dated and filled with archaic notions of humanity in general. As a key to understanding toxic masculinity, it's worth a read.
