A thought I keep coming back to: people cannot feel velocity. Literally. When you’re on a plane going 500mph it feels like you’re standing still. People can feel acceleration though. What we are primed to care about is: the changes.
I feel life is like this as well. We feel progress or loss but have little sense of our current status.
