op_cat gives you covenants, and more fancy things like the ability to validate a ZK proof. more possibilities. op_ctv just gives you covenants and a couple other things. there are more things that op_cat can do. some people are afraid of that but op_cat has already been deployed on a few blockchains and it seems fine.

there is a chance that op_cat could help cashu to suck less. ctv by itself wouldn't work for this. some of the things that are discussed in this cashu article would also apply to rollups, which are already in use today and are hugely more popular than lightning.
