In the last 12 months Spotify has become the worst. I am convinced it is AI and marketing.
While I love listening to a song or band on repeat for a while, Spotify was good at building relevant lists with new bands and music. Now it replays the same 20 songs and fills every playlist with shit I would never listen to and I spend more time hitting skip than listening to music.
I thought maybe it just needs to learn my listening but no, the current state has nothing to do with my listening habits or direct requests.
It is so bad I will play an Album and spotify will insert a related gender track but it is so far out of context to the record it ruins listening to the way an artist wanted it to be heard.
I just want to find the time to sit down and get these 100K tracks of music on that hard drive cleaned, tagged, and usable in modern playback tools. PlexAmp more than likely will be my defacto player but I am more concerned with having the music available anywhere, anytime. That is/was the value prop for streaming but I got the skills, drive and bandwidth to host my own, just don't want to trash panda the collection.
