I think you missed my point - I don't want them to. They were mostly people that came here, thought they'd get their next big grift following by regurgitating the same shit they did on Gab, and then realized no one cares to hear the same contrived garbage they've heard a thousand times already. Opening the doors also grants bad actors a larger attack surface. NCD has avoided security breaches thus far because of that fact alone. Not only that, but because I implore people to utilize another service I host (Matrix) to communicate securely. I put far more thought into this than you may think.
Sure we have lost good people for one reason or another. I hope they come back some day, but if they don't, then I hope we find new ones. If not, then we don't. I doubt we will see much growth over the next four years as people leave the fediverse for Twitter because they think space man is going to save free speech (they just want to grift off of Twitter) but hopefully we will be around when they decide that making their 100th new account to own the libs is no longer worth their time. Old habits blah blah
