I feel very strongly that when we tell our kids that they’re “too old” for plushies, we’re telling them they shouldn’t need the comfort and stability they provide. We’re saying “you need to toughen up and not soothe yourself in ways other people can see” and that’s so wrong.
I still remember blocking someone on here because they suggested I needed to get rid of the many plushies I had, even though I explained there was trauma there as my parents used to get rid of them without asking me. 1/
