I wouldn’t consider myself a bird watcher, even if I creep on them in my yard or pop out Merlin to recognize calls. But I am kinda pleased I have these somewhat rare birds from the southern-most bits of Australia in my Merlin “Life List.”

The third one, the bell miner, was spotted near the zoo. Its call sounded like a barcode scanner. Merlin’s audio packs don’t cover Australia so I had to practically climb a tree to ID it.
