Way too many people frame voting like a Yelp review, like following an influencer, liking an artist - an ultimately inconsequential act that says more about your brand identities than anything substantial.
And if they aren't sufficiently titillated, they keep scrolling. Because nothing bad will happen.
Nothing bad CAN happen. Because everything about my status quo is set in stone. Because "the people" won't let crazy shit happen.
Sometimes individuals who are modestly comfortable (usually because of their parents, ethnicity, luck, etc) have almost no imagination. Because they cannot even entertain the idea that the foundations of their lives will crumble because of their privileged presumptions.
