I'm trying to learn the basics of Indian music, so I wrote a bit about Melakarta ragas on my blog and here on Mastodon. I linked to an article that tries to count the theoretically possible janya ragas, but it seems like people argue about whether whether you should count two janya ragas as the same if they have the same notes but different parents. I hadn't met graha/sruti bedham yet... but I love group theory, so that sounds fun.
