After a month of dealing with sales people of different magnitudes of salespersonness (I declare that this is a word now! some of them really just cause a flight reaction with me, not sure how they get anything sold), I did the thing that goes against my nature (negotiating) and it made a huge difference. So now we're getting lots of solar panels and batteries and stuff, yay
