There's a parable about 3 blind men and an elephant. One touches the leg and concludes it's a tree. The second touches the trunk and concludes it's a snake. The third touches the side of the elephant and concludes it's a wall.

It's used to teach us many things (depending on your analysis). One of which is that not all of us have the same experience of a given situation.
