To the extent that something called 'conservatism' exists it is the centrists of today who are the conservatives.

They continue performing the old rituals of civility and comprise, they keep maintaining the institutions that don't seem to have any functions any more, just because they honestly believe that clinging to the old ways is a good thing in itself.
