I've been a full time user for about 15 years. I can't say it was always as easy as it is now 😊. It's easier than ever.
No system is safe. However, I think there's something special about being able to see the code and fix it yourself if you're so inclined. Everyone tends to benefit from such a system. Crossing your fingers and hoping it works out (Windows) is inherently less secure in my opinion.
I think we should have more diversity with critical infrastructure. Losing multiple things at once is really what causes the choas. It's a compounding problem.
