My two sats: I see this as a risk that can cut both ways with choosing to be financially dependent on the whims of the government. Their money will always come with strings attached. Maybe it’s a White House you like and align with those strings one year, but the next it could be the polar opposite. Institutions must accept this reality when accepting government funding.
