I've been thinking about how to describe what I am attempting to do as a broader project and I think it makes the most sense to say I am attempting a sort of Python programming demoscene revival? Not in the "graphics stunts" sense, but like, the original idea of the "demo scene" was that these computers had capabilities that we were only starting to see the peripherals of, and the demos were to show surprising and novel things that could be done with them.
