In smashbros brawl, to return from the character select screen, you can either long‐press B or you can select the back button with the pointer and press A (a short press is fine). But in wiiu smashbros, you must long‐press even if you use the pointer.
Occasionally I see the same in other games and I always think less of the game when you have to do a long press even if you select the menu button instead of pressing the corresponding gamepad button. It just triggers my autism.
