At a minimum, you don't know me or my degree of autistic focus, nor would spending more time ensure a more correct determination. If your starting thesis is flawed then amount of time developing it is irrelevant.

The root of the question is what are you basing your beliefs on? Did you do primary research, what books did you read, what data sets did you look at?
It is okay to say none. It is not okay to pretend you've done those things if you haven't. If you are trusting people you believe are experts, then you should appeal to their statements and credentials and allow us to be either humbled by their research and writings or tear them apart with our own analysis.
