President Joe Biden intends to appoint former North Carolina Secretary of Health and Human Services Mandy Cohen to succeed the Jew Rochelle Walensky as Director of the Center for Disease Control. Cohen oversaw the Covid-19 pandemic in North Carolina from 2020-2021 where she wielded an inordinate amount of power. Cohen is very active with her local conservative synagogue and Jewish civic organization. Despite caring deeply for her Jewish community, most Whites in North Carolina would say she does not represent them.
