Weekend game debrief:
This was the monthly meetup at the art gallery (they had a mildly NSFW theme this month). I got two of my games tabled and played one other.
Glass Road (4p)
Ingenious (4p)
Shifty Eyed Spies (4p)
First off, GR was "better" at four to teach it to three new folks because the matching of stuff out of your hand was more frequent, but I don't know that I have a player count preference. Scores inflated as well (I suspect in part because of the extra actions), but we're generally close together in the mid 20s. I laughed after the fact that I built Montreux with all of my buildings on the shore of the wooded lake... (I just needed a casino to catch fire and we would have been in business)
Ingenious is the Knizia game and was new to me. I'd played a few others, and I'd certainly play again, but I don't know that I need to buy it.
Last, but certainly not least is Shifty Eyed Spies. This came recommended to me at dinner one night back at PaxU when I asked "what's the strangest game you've played in the last few years that you enjoyed" and immediately one of them responded with this.
The picture I have is almost a disservice to the game, it needs a video. The gist is that you have two cards in your hand, and one represents *who* you want to make a delivery to. The other card represents *where* you want to get a (separate) delivery *from* someone else.
The catch is, you can only communicate with winking or raised eyebrows, and you don't want anyone else to catch you doing it because they can score points if they do.
This craves like 6 players and a round table cause you are constantly looking around with your head on swivel while simultaneously trying to catch the eye of someone and it's all delightfully absurd. It's left field in the same way that Newsroom Mode for Fit to Print is.
