It’s hard to believe that tech reporters are still calling #Telegram“an encrypted messaging service” to this day. First, what they really mean is “end to end encrypted”. This is a crucial distinction, because most traffic online is encrypted - doesn’t mean it’s end to end encrypted. This very post was encrypted: your Mastodon instance encrypted it for your client and sent it over the wire to your device to decrypt and display.
