Maybe someone's already pointed this out but why is Facebook/Meta/Zuckerburg playing nice all of the sudden?
Most internet/social corporations never seemed interested in interoperability before... but hey that's a nice fediverse you've got there it would be a shame if something happened to it...
They either see us as a threat to crush, or a bunch of sheep that escaped the surveillance pen and they want us back in.
I don't see anything for us to gain, and everything to lose.
Sure it would be nice to include more people. But it would be the same as being penpals with someone in prison. Everything gets read by the guards, and they're still stuck in prison at the end of the day.
"Expanding the fediverse" by joining the prison-industrial complex (I'm done with "walled garden") seems like an oxymoron at best.
It's in everyone's best interest to get people away from the surveillance platforms; not make them more comfy.
