What I'm trying to (and I think I have) achieve here is to simulate the finishing they do to synth music in studio produced tracks. You ever notice how MIDI output from a PC sounds one way but then CD audio from the 90s that was made with synths just sounds more realistic and polished?
With this C64 music, the original sounds very 8 bit but my version sounds a lot more like the original song. Just like how a good CRT filter makes new colors and shapes appear, I've coaxed out instruments and bass that couldn't be heard before. I toggled it on and off a few times to really make the contrast clear
