A thought has just struck me... Probably the thought others, brighter and more on the ball than me, have already had.
I was already suspicious of streaming and kindle and all those things because of the potential for censorship and memory-holing stuff that doesn't meet the standards of the current purity standard.
But the naked capitalist greed side of it hadn't occurred to me till now.
Teen and I were happily watching a US sitcom from the 2000s on a streaming platform. It was on there for free (well, you had to put up with ads...) We've come back from holidays to find it is now available as boxed sets at about £16 a series.
Back in the day when there were CDs, a ten, fifteen year old TV show would have sold for a fiver in HMV/ 2 quid in your local charity shop.
But now there's no physical media out there to be traded second hand, the publishers and streaming platforms are quids in.
