Generally, scientists learn how to be critical of ideas, more than lay people. Of course, most people feel insulted if it's obvious that another person is intentionally being derogatory towards them. I've simply mitigated your incorrect assumptions & strawman argument. Whilst l'd prefer to not be spending time doing that, l realise that that's how many people debate.
