I see only good things coming from a competition between bluesky and Mastodon. Threads isn’t going to innovate anything. It’s just going to monetize traffic when it figures out how. But as more and more communities want to build decentralized networks for general or dedicated purposes, it makes perfect sense (to me) to have two protocols. One for global open public sharing, and one for closed. But it seems to me BlueSky can be used for both, but Mastodon mostly for the latter.
