I'm not sure about that, a purity spiral is just run away fault finding. Everyday I interact with a lot of people who mostly believe lies. And, the correct thing to do is, to ignore it.

Jesus himself didn't go around finding fault with people, He saved that for any religious leader who thought o co-opt or entrap Him.

Love and tolerance seem to be His example. He didn't go around finding faults with the government, or with other religions, or with other races. Which makes me think, I am missing what is important when I find myself doing those things on fedi.
