#WordWeavers November 15. Do you favor certain senses when writing? If so, are they your dominant sense?
I usually favor visuals/sight (my dominant sense, I’m pretty sure), but for Bethany’s story I’m focusing more on other senses, because some of hers are heightened (sight, hearing, and smell) and most of them feel weirdly new to her. Of course she doesn’t know why, because she doesn’t remember much from before her dad took her out of the facility she was in several months ago.
When she first met Halley (the cat), petting him seemed like a natural thing to do, but the actual sensation of it felt new to her, like she’d never pet a cat before. And right after her dad got her out, the first food she ate (which happened to be pizza) also felt like a new experience. Also kind of a messy one until she got used to it. When she first drank a milkshake, on the other hand, the clouds parted and a beam of light shined down and she was filled with manna.
