I just don't think it should be considered a stopper for Wayland support. As a GNOME user myself, I think more developers should feel comfortable telling GNOME users to stuff it.
I'd like it if the issue could be reframed from "this application doesn't support GNOME on Wayland" to "GNOME on Wayland has a really disjointed application experience" if that makes sense.
