npub1skvad2l2wrxgdmt6yxk9kt2rjhw5tucjzhf54pktfq2gg0qhgwyqdlaky3 (npub1skv…aky3) I really hope there are folks there to represent the interests and perspectives of those being studied. The autistic community, and the larger neurodivergent community, regularly encounter research that looks at us as broken and in need of repair, presuming from the start that the way we function is a malfunction, because it is not common or typical. This leads to ableism and ethical violations that are invisible from the perspective of the researchers making these faulty assumptions. I would love to see some representation from the neurodivergent community there, to give an insider's perspective.
I think the field is already waking up to this, as well as similar effects for race and gender. I just want to make sure it's being consciously addressed.
