A lot of people petulantly talking about open sourcing browsers after mozmoz got out of the honestly incomprehensibly weird and unprofitable space of doing fediverse hosting, but a modern browser is essentially a whole OS, so the thought that an unpaid community of volunteers is going to spring up and do that work for free without some kind of funding angle is, I think, naive
