Attended 2 graduations today, spoke, handed out an award, diplomas. After 3 years of harassment, I was shy in my N95. That’s the raw truth. I looked around at the few masked educators, students, parents. Maybe they looked to me. Perhaps others were masked because they are immunocompromised, or because they don’t want to risk long-COVID, or perhaps because they just wanted to take care of others. I kept my damn mask on. Maybe it will help others to know that what’s right often isn’t easy.
