A related conceit I feel whenever witnessing a bit of a sportsball is that I'm seeing a historical reenactment -- something that could really only be apprecaited by kids and niche adult hobbyists -- surely modern adults have more interesting things to...be interested in. But no, I'm just conceited and would be happier if it were not so. Anyway, this makes me wonder whether there's a historical sports (eg mob football) reenactment scene. Surely there is, only question, how large.
