The CBO reported today that the US national debt will exceed $50 trillion by 2034. I don’t even think economists can agree on the real threat of national debt. The traditional thinking is that most debt is bad and is a real thing. Others say we could just wipe it out with one coin and not suffer any blowback.
Either way, our debt sinks us, or someone will just decide not to worry about it anymore.
$50 trillion is not a sum that can be repaid. Ever.
It’s always the next guy’s problem.
