Actually, Bitcoin was added so podcasters wouldn't be deplatformed from things like PayPal;. The splits were then introduced so the podcasting app devs got paid. While podcast like JRE made millions the podcasting apps people were using to listen to the show weren't getting a cent. Being able to send sats to a podcaster is cool but why shouldn't the app get a piece of the action? or really anyone the podcaster wants to share their sats with.
