Most of the most rampant atheists I've come across, who really challenged the Bible are all ex-Christians actually. They believed the Bible, and then began questioning it after a long time. Leon Hart, who was a SAAF Missile Engineer introduced me to Humphreys. He is a British academic. He set out to write a book about Jesus as a real person. That was his original goal. So he went and he began looking for proof that Jesus was real. He hunted and hunted and couldn't find any real historical document for this. Just search for "Jesus never existed". His knowledge of the bible is unbelievable. Another guy who hates religion is Dan Barker. He's an American who was a Christian Evangelist. He was busy converting people and going from country to country.
