My biggest concern is that it could take up too much block space, and the fees could crowd out Bitcoin transactions. Bitcoin isn’t designed to be a JPEG repository. Let Ethereum and other blockchains handle the NFTs.
If Bitcoin is going to store JPEGs, it should be on Layer 2 platforms like Lightning/Nostr, not the Layer 1 / blockchain. Layer 1 should just be Bitcoin transactions to keep the network decentralized and keep the node specs / disk space / bandwidth / power consumption minimal.
