"Jesus came to set people free" sounds very nice and not at all difficult to get along with, until you realize that some of what Jesus came to set us free from, we maybe don't always *want* to be free from.
Maybe we don't want to be free from our anger and resentment.
Maybe we don't want to be free from our stuff.
Maybe we don't want to be free from being the "centre of the universe."
Jesus isn't going to force us to let go - but nor will He ever be content to leave us in our chains, no matter how tightly we cling to them.
