Someone stole a truck and abandoned it in front of my house. 
At first I thought it was just the neighbors parking there, but nope, a cop called me, told me the truck was stolen, and asked if I had any more info. He probably would have suspected I stole it if I didn't helpfully leave a note on the window asking to move it (even the dumbest thief wouldn't be so dumb as to write their name and number on the stolen vehicle).
This is one of the very few times in my life where I was protected by doing the right thing. I usually just get screwed over from that.
