Okay, first the excuses out of the way:

- I forgot a lesson that I seemingly have to learn again a couple hundred times more than I already have: Do not run with a full stomach.

- started to late in the day; it is already to hot

- ageing

But after the excuses comes the truth. I am out of shape. I should not gasp for air after 3km of mild jogging. I should not be utterly destroyed after the smallest run around the block I can think of.

However, that's the truth. Fitness-wise I am thoroughly back to square one as I was when I took up running twelve years ago.

The hardest part about this will be

a) discipline
b) adjusting expectations

I will simply not run 40-50km per week for a while. And I will have to stop thinking about why I ever stopped doing this regularly when I legit ran one half marathon per week for the better part of two years.

Geez, I was in shape then.
