Your point is important, and I consider it always, nowadays, when thinking about privacy setups, but: coinjoin is very obviously by far worse here. That's why offchain/onchain mix makes sense; pure offchain makes most sense of all, because all of its cost benefit is inextricably accompanied by a privacy benefit, thereby removing the problem you mention. I'm discussing here what can be done for the stuff that cannot be offchain all the time. Again, this is much more "justifiable" to external people, although that line of thinking only goes so far.
