Mike, First of His Name on Nostr: Fry, our "accidental" Rainbowfish, who arrived unexpectedly in the tank as an egg ...
Fry, our "accidental" Rainbowfish, who arrived unexpectedly in the tank as an egg attached to some plants, has passed away peacefully and with a full belly.
Wikipedia says that "If properly cared for, Rainbowfish can live up to 5 years in captivity". As she was almost exactly one month shy of her fifth birthday I feel I probably did OK by her.
It's really strange to actually know the correct birthday of a fish, but one day there she was - a tiny black dot moving against the current. I transferred her to a more peaceful tank until she was big enough to avoid the filter intake, and return to rule.
Goodnight, Queen of the Tank.
