And it's basically true; we mostly only stop being "foreigners" (even those born here (see Ulf Kristersson's "Svenskfödda invandrarbarn")) when we are superstars, whatever field we're in. And if we misstep? Then were back to being that simple foreigner again (see Refaat el Sayed, and others).

Then there's also the simple reason that many of us come from cultures that *are* inherently racist, some extremely so, by some shape or form. I'm thinking Chilenos, Iranians (as described by other Iranians, nota bene–I have no real knowledge here (other than the most racist ones tend to call themselves "Farsi" or something such (; )), and so on.
