Canada didn't exist during that time. The country was a British colony. It was the British who burned down the Whitehouse and there is way more to the story than the Americans trying to invade the British colony.
The Royal Family & bankers were pissed a bunch of British betrayed them and crated their own country which later became America.
The British were constantly trying to attack the new country of America. They stopped at nothing to try to destroy it.

1811. The charter for the bank runs out and congress votes against its renewal. Nathan Mayer Rothschild is not pleased to say the least, and states,
"Either application for renewal of the charter is granted or the United States will find itself involved in a most disastrous war."
Congress calls the Rothschild's bluff and stands firm with its disapproval of renewing the Bank charter which brings Nathan Mayer Rothschild to issue another threat,
"Teach those impudent Americans a lesson. Bring them back to colonial status."
Backed by the Rothschild's full support in money, the British declare war on the United States, thus instigating The War of 1812. The plan was to get the U.S. to build up so much debt that they would have no choice but to surrender to the Rothschild's for money and allow the charter for the bank to be renewed.
