What websites do more than extend the empty space around a central column, or simply enlarge a smaller-scale design to fill the space?

What are the broadside designs of the web? What websites maintain a high amount of information density when given lots of real estate to work with?

I really wish more sites took advantage of extra-large viewports, but I struggle to think of many examples.
